HISTORICAL REALISM – Anthology by GIUSEPPE MIGNECO – VERNISSAGE

EVENT DATE:

EVENT VENUE:

The most representative works of Giuseppe Migneco told by the expertise of the art critic, Francesco Gallo Mazzeo. An event within the event, on the opening day of the exhibition Historical realism – Anthology by Giuseppe Migneco, which combined the marvel of the Sicilian master's art with a passionate technical analysis of the works.

The art history teacher and Mondadori consultant for the Modern Art Catalogue, will illustrate an anthology of the artist revealing all the fundamental moments of his career up to his consecration in the 1950s among the masters of contemporary Italian art. A fame that will open the doors of the most prestigious national and foreign galleries for him: from the Venice Biennale to New York, from Paris to Stuttgart to Amsterdam.

Migneco's works are part of the social realism line, but his realism is characterized by the influence of Mexican muralism interpreted with a more rigid and sharp linearity. "Sharply silhouetted figures, clean cuts from the scene, irreparable gaping grimaces, give a feeling of freedom", according to Gallo Mazzeo. The figures and landscapes recall the decorative and narrative tradition of Sicilian carts, motionless and timeless. Extremely tied to his land of origin, Migneco puts humble characters at the center of his art in which he will always recognize his Sicily. Over the years, the exasperation of color that becomes real organic matter consolidates in him.

The exhibition will close its doors on June 30th next. For more information contact the number 080.5468864 or send an email to info@sangiorgioarte.it
